Jazz Jackrabbit is the PC world's answer to Sonic the Hedgehog. In this platform game, Jazz, the hero of the rabbit planet Carrotus, must rescue the beloved rabbit princess, Eva Earlong, and defeat the leader of the turtle terrorists, Devan Shell, traveling to different planets to gather clues concerning Eva's whereabouts while liberating them from Shell's tyranny.
The similarity to Sonic the Hedgehog manifests itself in Jazz's uncanny speed, and the fact it increases the more he runs. However, the rest of the gameplay mechanics are different. The game is primarily a shooter, meaning that in order to defeat his enemies, it's not enough for Jazz to jump over their heads. Jazz starts with a blaster, but during the course of the game acquires other weapons, such as grenade launcher, flamethrower, TNT, etc. Jazz can also pick up various power-ups, including a force shield, a hoverboard that allows him to float in the air, a bird that will fight on Jazz's side, and others.

LET ME PUBLISH THIS FUCKING THING THANK YOU
As much as I love this game, pressing things like ALT fucks up the browser, and seeing as how this is browser-based DOS emulation this might be a fucking problem. Is there a way to make this file separate to download because I'm sure DOS games work perfectly fine on DOSBOX without the in-browser technicalities.

It's not about the game, but the port.
Right Alt along with jumping also switches weapons. Sometimes it is irritating, sometimes it affects gameplay.

Keys and graphics details
The game is a gem from the past.
To the previous reviewer - you can change the keys in the menu and the graphics details can be lowered if it is lagging for you.
On my machine (iMac 3.4GHz i7, running in Safari 8.0.3) it is barely lagging when the details are on high. The emulation is not relying on your video card's extras at all, so no benefits there.

There are three things I can say negative about this and neither is about the original game.
1. The stream style really laggy and makes the game almost impossible to play.
2. The default keybindings for this game don't work well with browser-based play and I'm unsure if they can be changed. [Ctrl, Alt and Space tend to end up doing something unintended to the browser and lose focus on the emulation.]
3. This is somewhat incomplete. It's the diskette edition. The CD edition from a year later has 4 'chapters' absent in this version. [I have a copy of the CD; I was looking at the title in order to legally share the game with others easily online.]
Overall the emulation needs work and the more complete edition of the game should be uploaded.
